Elaine has been the executive director of CACC since 2000. Previously she was the director of the UCLA Service-Learning Clearinghouse Project, providing service-learning resources to higher education institutions across the nation. Prior to this, Elaine was a research analyst at the UCLA Higher Education Research Institute where she conducted research on service-learning. Elaine holds a doctorate in higher education and organizational change from UCLA and a master's degree in public health from California State University, Long Beach. In her free time, Elaine enjoys watching movies, playing tennis or golf, and hanging out with her friends and family.

Piper McGinley

Prior to her work with CACC, Piper was the Associate Director of the Integrated Nurse Leadership Program (INLP), housed at UCSF Center for the Health Professions. INLP is a Betty and Gordon Moore Foundation program that brings together nurses and hospital executives from the Bay Area to learn skills in leadership and management and to implement quality and safety initiatives in their hospital. Previously, Piper served as the Associate Director for Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH). Piper directed the national CCPH headquarters, and was responsible for the content and planning of CCPH's annual conference, service-learning institutes, and other California-focused initiatives. Piper currently serves as a Senior Consultant with CCPH. Piper holds a BA in Peace and Conflict Studies from UC Berkeley, and an MA in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from The American University.

Kathy brings 20 years of marketing, development and project management experience to California Campus Compact. She has worked on projects as diverse as leading fund-development campaigns, creating a photography archive documenting the rise of Silicon Valley, editing more than 50 non-fiction books, planning and implementing university service-learning projects and writing articles for numerous magazines and newspapers, including Leader to Leader, Fast Company and the San Francisco Chronicle. Kathy's consulting clients and employers have included Santa Clara University, Stanford University, San Francisco State University, Kaiser Permanente, Tom Peters, Barry Posner and Jim Kouzes, Jossey-Bass, Random House and Against All Odds Productions. A Bay Area native, Kathy is a graduate of Santa Clara University. In her spare time, she enjoys reading anything written by Tobias Wolff, Lorrie Moore and Mona Simpson as well as losing one “Go Fish” game after another to her six-year-old daughter.

A native Californian, Cathy earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from California State University , Chico and her M.Ed. from Loyola University Chicago in Educational Leadership and Policy with an emphasis in College Student Personnel. Cathy is a coach, trainer, facilitator, and educator in the areas of leadership development, strategic planning, and organizational effectiveness. For 13 years, Cathy served in various professional capacities across a broad range of student affairs areas including university housing, student activities, leadership development, service-learning and educational equity programs. Cathy serves as the coordinator of CACC's new Bridge Building Leadership Initiative that is designed to cultivate leaders in the field of service-learning. Her favorites include: Suduko, day trips with her family, and her iPod.

Sara Gorrell is currently attending San Francisco State and is studying Journalism with a focus on photojournalism. Before joining the CACC staff, Sara worked for the Sacramento Sheriff's Department and volunteered with her local Girl Scout troop. In her free time, Sara enjoys cooking, going swimming, and getting lost in the city.

Ann currently attends San Francisco State University as a Technical & Professional Writing major with a focus on organizational communications. Once she completes her B.A., she plans to work towards an M.A. in Organizational Communications. Before joining CACC, Ann worked as a promotional representative for Hansen's Beverage Company. In her spare time, Ann likes to read books about travel and spend time with her friends.
